Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province is one of the 31 provinces of Iran. It lies in the southwestern part of the country. Its capital Shahr-e Kord is the largest city of the province. Shahr-e Kord is known for its natural environment, cold winters, and beautiful waterfalls and also it is Iran's highest capital city. This led the city to be known as “Roof of Iran”. The Bakhtiari tribe can be divided into two sub-tribes, Haft Lang and Chahar Lang, with various territorial affiliations. They are the main speakers of Lurish language. As the name of the province indicates, the other group of people in this ancient province are the Chahar Mahali. These people and the Lur speakers live side by side and share nearly similar customs. The province is mainly active in the agriculture sector. Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari is one of the snowiest provinces in the country. Three ski resorts of Koohrang (Chelgerd), Bardeh and Sheikh Shaban are among the ski resorts of this province.
The most important handicrafts in the province are Knitting, Needlework, Knitting Giveh, and Carpet Weaving & etc. The people have other specific customs associated with their tribal lives. Special forms of music, dance, and clothing are noteworthy. Unique beauties of its green nature, Atashgah Waterfall in Lordegan Fire, and again from the beautiful sides of Zayandeh Rood River to the unique forests of Zagros, Chaleshtor Castle, Zaman Bridge, Chaghakhor Lagoon, Kouhrang 1 Dam, Jeonghan Castle, &... are of the best sightseeing places in this province.
