Hamadan is the capital city of Hamadan Province in Iran. Hamadan is believed to be among the oldest Iranian cities. This beautiful city is also said to be among the world's oldest continuously inhabited cities. A cool and pleasant summer climate does however attract tourists escaping from the intense heat elsewhere.
The province of Hamadan has more than 1752 historical, cultural and natural attractions of great and special importance. Given the importance, 1004 of them have been registered in the List of Iranian National Heritage. Hamadan is the origin of Urbanization and the old city of Hegmataneh is an evidence of this claim.
