Kaleybar is a town located in East Azerbaijan, a historical province of Iran with authenticity and pristine nature. Kaleybar Town, has a pleasant and moderate mountainous climate and is an ideal location for summer vacations.
Ghareh Dagh or Arasbaran Forest which is an hour away from Kaleybar Town, is one of the famous sights of this town which has diverse trees and is the habitat of different animals. There are more than 320 living species in Arasbaran National Park including eagles, hawks, partridges, wolves, foxes, jackals and brown bears. Another of the most famous tourist attractions of Kaleybar is Babak Castle which was built in the Sassanid Era. The protected area of Inanloo, located in the most virginal area of Arasbaran Forest, is the paradise of the nature enthusiasts and tourists. In addition, there are various beautiful waterfalls located in this area including Galoosang, Aghouyeh and Asiab Kharabeh.
Cornus mas fruit is this region’s famous cultivated product which embodies the economic identity of Kaleybar. The Cornus mas Festival is held annually in order to attract tourists to this town. Also, weaving Varni which is a kind of a rug is also very popular in Kaleybar. This beautiful hand – crafted art pieces are produced as Kaleybar’s most famous souvenirs by Qarahdagh’s nomads.
