7 Most Famous Historical Bazaars in Iran

Kashan Bazaar
Bazaar of Kashan is an old bazaar in the center of the city of Kashan, Iran. It is said the bazaar have been built in the Seljuk era with renovations during the Safavid period. The bazaar has a famous architecture, especially at its Timche-ye Amin od-Dowleh section and it has been registered as one of Iran`s National Heritages. The famous products of Kashan’s bazaar includes handmade Persian carpets, special cookies, rosewater, Baklava & etc.

 

 


Tabriz Bazaar
Tabriz Bazaar is a historical market situated in the city center of Tabriz, Iran. It is one of the oldest bazaars in the Middle East and the largest covered bazaar in the world. This bazaar is one of Iran's UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Tabriz has been a place of cultural exchange since antiquity and its historical bazaar complex is one of the most important commercial centers on the Silk Road. Tabriz Historical Bazaar Complex consists of a series of interconnected, covered, brick structured buildings, and enclosed spaces for different functions. The most remarkable products which are provided in Tabriz bazaar are different kind of traditional candies, leather products, handmade Persian carpets & etc.

 

 


Qazvin Bazaar
The Qazvin Bazaar was the linking point with the west and north side of Iran, due to the development of the Qajar era. This Bazaar has an area of 14 hectares with three main entrance gate. Qeysarieh Bazaar is one of the famous places for trade in Qazvin Bazaar. Qeysarieh includes some marvelous elements of Iranian Architecture style such as an arched portal, traditional and lattice windows. The handicrafts and delicious pastries like rice bread of Qazvin can be a good souvenir.  

 

 

 


Kerman Bazaar
The bazaar in Kerman dates back to 600 years ago to Timurid era when a number of people got together and established an optional bazaar as the primary base of the great bazaar in Kerman. Other parts were then added to it in different periods of time and finally ended up to the formation of the bazaar. The most famous products which are provided in Kerman bazaar are special cookies (Kolompeh, Qutu and Qowat), Kerman Handicrafts such as Patteh Doozi, Ajideh Doozi, Copper and silver Dishes & etc.

 

 

 


Qom Bazaar
The traditional bazar of Qom is a part of the historical texture of this city. Bazar of Qom is a structure made of adobe, brick, clay and stone. This historical Persian bazaar includes two roofed new and old lines with the length of approximately one kilometer covered with a dome that saved this building from cold and hot desert climate. The most important handicrafts and products of Qom’s bazaar are carpets, brick and ceramic works, latticed works, a special type of sweet known as Sohan, rosaries, vessels of stone and gypsum, decorative articles, porcelain, special silk Persian carpets & etc.

 


Tehran Grand Bazaar
Tehran Grand Bazaar is an old bazaar in the downtown of Tehran. For the time being, Tehran Grand Bazaar has a unique and complicated architecture. It is split into several corridors over 10 kilometres in length, each specializing in different types of goods Eye-catching arches, labyrinthine corridors, and traditional air-conditioning systems have added to its beauty. Tehran Grand Bazaar is the main center for distributing various products of Iranian handicrafts, Sweets, nuts, and spices. 
 

 

 


Vakil Bazaar (Shiraz)
Vakil Bazaar in Shiraz is the main section of the Shiraz Bazaar which was built in 11th Century by Karim Khan Zand as part of a plan to make Shiraz into a prominent trading center. The first factor that catches the attention in Vakil Bazaar is its large area. 21840 square meters is large enough to turn this bazaar into an extensive complex. The best architectures of the time were summoned upon building this awesome structure. This architecturally beautiful building is a trade hub for merchants selling spices, rugs, handmade copper pieces, antiques, Persian sweets and much more.
