The Interlace , Singapore

The Interlace, The winner of the world architecture festival of 2015, one of the largest and most ambitious residential developments in Singapore, is designed by Ole Scheeren, partner of the Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA).

The Interlace is located on an eight-hectare site in the verdant Southern Ridges and completes a nine-kilometer green belt of parks and recreational facilities. This 170,000 square-meter complex offers 1040 apartment units of varying sizes with extensive outdoor spaces, beautiful landscaping and eye-catching views over the parks, the city, and the sea.

Thirty-one apartment blocks, each six stories tall and identical in length, have been arranged in a honeycomb pattern around six hexagonal courtyards.

The project includes 50 meter lap pool, Fun pool, Jacuzzi, Landscape courtyard, Fitness station, Gymnasium, Children play area, Gardening zone, Lotus pond, Tennis court, Party pavilions.

The number of paths and pedestrian circulation is a response to the location and density of residents around each courtyard and core residence. A continuous loop which surrounds the site provides a one-kilometer running track and connects the courtyards to the activities around the edge of the site.

Sustainability features are incorporated throughout the project through careful environmental analysis of sun, wind, and micro-climate conditions and the integration of low-impact passive energy strategies.
