Porsche Taycan: 750 Hp - Tesla Rival

Porsche has announced the name of its first full-electric sports car during the official celebration of the anniversary "70 years Porsche sports car" – Taycan. The name translates as “lively young horse”, referencing the center of the Porsche crest. The four-door sports saloon is a unique package, offering typical Porsche performance and connectivity with everyday usability. At the same time, highly advanced production methods and the features of the Taycan are setting new standards in the fields of sustainability and digitalization. The first models in the new series are the Taycan Turbo S and Taycan Turbo. They are at the cutting edge of Porsche E-Performance and are among the most powerful production models that the sports car manufacturer currently has in its product range.

Porsche says the Taycan’s two electric motors, producing a combined 616bhp and 627lb ft of torque in the Turbo, deliver a 0-62mph time of 3 sec. In the Turbo S, meanwhile, they hit a peak of 750bhp and 774lb ft with an overboost function that shortens that sprint to 2.8sec. The Turbo S has a range of up to 412 kilometers, and the Turbo a range of up to 450 kilometers. The top speed of both all-wheel-drive models is 260 km/h. The Taycan’s capability comes at a price; in launch form the Taycan will cost from £115,858 as a Turbo, with the price rising to £138,826 in Turbo S form, before options. Deliveries will begin in 2020.
