Merdeka PNB 118, Kuala Lumpur
Merdeka 118 is a mixed-development complex, which will be developed in three stages on 19-acres of land. Merdeka has 292,000 m2 gross floor area. It is a geometrically intricate 118 storey office and hotel tower that will be home to the headquarters for Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB), one of Malaysia's leading investment firms. With a completed height of more than 635 meters, PNB 118 will be the tallest building in Malaysia, and rank amongst the world's ten tallest buildings. Merdeka 118 will feature 83 floors of premium office space, whilst the Pak Hyatt luxury hotel will take up residence in the top one floors - with approximately 250 guestrooms and suites, that are designed to embrace the unparalleled sweeping views of the city skyline. The hotel will offer approximately 1,850 square meters of meeting space for conferences and events.
Merdeka is designed by RSP Architects Planners & Engineers. The tower is designed with a mixture of diamond shaped facets to signify the diversity of Malaysians. The glass and steel building with its spire are said to resemble the raised hand of Tunku Abdul Rahman when he proclaimed the independence of Malaya.
The Merdeka 118 is pursuing a rigorous environmental program and is seeking Triple Platinum sustainability certification under the USGBC’s LEED program, the Malaysian Green Building Index (GBI), and the Malaysian GreenRE program. The construction of the complex started in 2014 and is expected to be completed in 2021.
