Heaven's Gate is a stunning rock arch located in the Tianmen Mountain National Park, China. It is one of the world's most spectacular attractions.
Heaven’s Gate (also known as Tianmen Cave or Heaven’s Door Cave), is the highest naturally formed arch in the world.
This picturesque place was formed naturally as a result of soil erosion. in the year of 263, a large chunk broke away from the mountain, and the cave was formed (131.5 m height, 57 m width and 60 m long). Some believe that the cave’s creation is a mystery, which only strengthens its Tianmen’s reputation as a holy mountain. The name justifies the fact that it is constantly shrouded in clouds. There is a feeling that after passing through the gates you’ll find yourself in heaven.
To reach the fantastic landmark, visitors must walk up 999 steps on the “stairway to heaven.” Nine is a lucky number in Chinese numerology, representing good fortune and eternity. There is a belief among the locals that the mountain itself and its gates of heaven have a mystical force.
