Walt Disney Concert Hall, Los Angeles
Walt Disney Concert Hall is Located on Los Angeles, The United States. The Concert Hall opened in October 2003 and is part of The Music Center campus. It is the performance home of the Los Angeles Master Chorale and the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
Designed by architect Frank Gehry with acoustic design by Yasuhisa Toyota, the hall's distinctive sweeping silver facade is an internationally recognized architectural landmark and the hall is heralded as one of the most acoustically sophisticated concert halls in the world. The hardwood-paneled main auditorium has a seating capacity of 2,265 and is in a vineyard-style configuration with seats surrounding the stage.
A rose-shaped fountain designed by Gehry and made from Royal Delft porcelain is a tribute to Lillian Disney in the Level 3 garden.
In addition to the main concert hall, the 3.6-acre complex includes the garden that is open to the public during operating hours, the Parsons Foundation Atrium Hall including a gift shop and cafe, and the W.M. Keck Foundation Children's Amphitheater. The complex also houses REDCAT, the Roy and Edna Disney/CalArts Theater. Construction began in 1991 and was completed over 10 years later.
The temporary Walt Disney Concert Hall Dreams light show was developed by the LA-based artist to celebrate the centenary of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Displayed every half hour during the evening, the projections include text, photos and patterns generated using artificial intelligence (AI) and the orchestra's digital archive.
